Class Presentations, a Puppet Show, and more: this week at illuminate

It's a busy week for illuminate, showcasing every aspect of the company

Our Fall Session ended last week, after 8 weeks of creative collaboration and fun-filled classes. This week we consider a "bonus" week to the session: when our classes present what they have learned to their family and friends! On Tuesday and Thursday, October 28+31, we will hold presentations at 11am. It's a great way to see what the other classes have done, and what else is offered at illuminate. Many of the same classes will be back next semester, so this is a great way to check them out beforehand. Bring a friend who might be interested in signing up! We need more creatives in this world!

  • TUESDAY CLASSES (10/29): Ukulele, Playful Puppetry, Improving in Improv, Acting up with Art, ASL, Basics of Puppeteering, Puppet-Making, Treble Choir, Mixed Choir

  • THURSDAY CLASSES (10/31): Tap, Musical Theatre, Playmakers, Intro to film

The presentations will also feature a BAKE SALE to benefit the cast of Footloose. They are in their final week of fundraising and still a couple thousand dollars away from their goal to fund the production. Click here to learn more and to give before November 1!

On Wednesday, we welcome back Mr. Harry with his friend, Good News Gus for a FREE Puppet Show.

Harry is a Sesame-Street-trained professional who brings an entertaining show for all ages.

Thanks to a grant from the Mass Cultural Council, we are able to provide this opportunity for free to our community. Harry will also provide training to our popular Puppet Team, The Luminators, while he's in town.

Wednesday, Oct 30 @10am at Centenary Church in Attleboro.

Select Choir Auditions and COMMUNITY SING

For the first time in our history, this week, illuminate's fabulous choir director, Miss Cassie, will be holding auditions for a "Select Choir." This will be an expansion to the growing choir program that has been developing over the past 7 years. Auditions are being held TOMORROW (Oct 29) but you may contact Miss Cassie if you would like a chance to audition.

We are also very happy to announce another experimental expansion to the choir. At long last, Miss Jen and Miss Cassie have been able to take forward steps towards making the "Community Sing" concept a reality. "Community Sing" will give entire families a chance to be part of a pop-up choir; along with anyone from the community! If you haven't had a chance to sign up, click here. It's free!

Here are some of the details for Community Sing:

  • One rehearsal after Spongebob auditions on Tuesday, Dec 3 (exact times TBA; we will give space for dinner)

  • A first performance after Spongebob auditions on Thursday, Dec 5 (several locations are being scouted, one of which is Lasalette!)

  • A second performance on Saturday morning, December 7 at Highland Park, for the Attleboro Holiday Parade and festivities by the parks department (11:30am-1:00pm)

  • possibly one more caroling event in December

  • A spring "pop up concert" is also in the works

  • All concerts are optional and as families are able to attend. Cassie will send out more details in the coming weeks.

All of these exciting events are happening alongside our Mainstage Production of FOOTLOOSE.

Tickets go live on November 1 (earlier for members) for this fun, heartwarming, toe-tapping musical that will inspire+delight the entire family.

If you haven't supported this cast, this is the last week to do so! Be part of their story and make a lasting difference in their lives as they experience the life-changing effects of live theatre, teamwork, and determination. Click here to give!
