A week ago, tickets went live for our Year 12 High School Mainstage and the best seats are already going quickly! "Footloose, The Musical" is based on a true story that was first seen in the 1980s hit film. Footloose celebrates the exhilaration of youth, the wisdom of listening to one another, and the power of forgiveness.
You will find yourself singing along to the familiar tunes such as "Let's Hear it for the Boy," "Holdin' out for a Hero," and "Almost Paradise" while being swept away by our showstopper numbers
Choreographer Gwen McGovern has kept these 28 cast members very busy over the past 11 weeks. With only one rehearsal per week, they are learning an incredible amount of material, including intricate harmonies directed by Laura Jenkins, who has been a part of illuminate since Year 3. This production is supported by high school interns and one alumni coach, as illuminate believes in giving students the opportunity to lead at every level in the company. Director Jennifer Keating has been working with Assistant Director Aaralyn Hubbell and Assistant Music Director/Acting Coach Blayze Malmberg to draw out genuine performances from the actors, which helps to tell this inspirational story best.

This week, the live band joins the cast in rehearsal for the first time! In our 12 years producing Broadway-quality productions, this is the first time we have had a live band on stage, and we can't wait to see what this does for the overall experience. Our student-run stage crew will be on hand to run the lights, change the scenes, and support the cast from the backstage perspective.
